Warranty Claim

On-line claim submission provides a Generac dealer with the ability to submit a warranty repair claim.

New Claim Unit Status
Select the status of the unit:
  • Stock unit: The unit has been delivered to the dealer, but has not yet been installed at the customer site.
  • Installation failure: The unit failed during installation (initial start-up).
  • Installed unit: This unit is installed and has been available for standby power at the customer site.
  • Repaired Under Maintenance: This unit is installed and a problem was discovered or repaired during scheduled maintenance.
  • In-use Portable: Portable unit that is not new and is in use.

New Claim Entry
Provide all relevant details of the claim. Required fields are indicated by a red asterisk *.
Dealer
Select the service technician that performed the repair(s).
Owner
If the unit (serial number) has been registered with Generac®, this information will auto populate. It is not possible to enter owner information on a claim.
Product
For warranty work, product details related to the unit (serial number) specified are provided for review.
  • Verify that the product description matches the unit the work was performed on. For a defective part claim, the product description will indicate “Defective Part”.
  • Provide the unit application, fuel type, installation and run time on the hour meter if applicable.
  • The purchase date will auto populate and cannot be changed.
  • The failure date must be on or after the purchase date.
  • The repair date must be on or after the failure date.
Conditions/Comments
Provide details of the problem/diagnosis, and corrective actions performed. Note that the word “Defective” is not sufficient.

Primary Failed Part
Note that one primary failure is required indicating which part or failure caused the malfunction.
Add Part/Failure
Enter part number and tab for the Part Description to automatically display for the primary part. Non-part failures will require a part number that was repaired or adjusted/maintained. Then select the Group Code, Group Object, Damage Group Code and Damage Code from the drop down menus.
  • Part Failure
    To add a part/failure, fill in the part number. This is the primary failure; select the fail codes using the Group Code drop down selections. Note that the Group Code, Group Object, Damage Group Code, Damage Code is required for every claim.
  • Non-Part Failure
    To indicate a failure only; enter the part number that was repaired or adjusted/maintained. Note that the Group Code, Group Object, Damage Group Code, Damage Code is required for every claim.

Repair Time
Indicate the total hours for repair labor, removal and re-installation, and diagnostic time incurred. A travel allowance is allotted.
Travel
Travel hours for non-configured units will auto populate and is not changeable without a control number from Technical Service. Industrial units also allow for mileage.
Charges
Indicate freight, duty and any miscellaneous charges incurred. Note that the total miscellaneous charges cannot exceed $100.00

Purchased Parts
Enter the quantity (Qty) and Part No. and select the Add at the end of the line. Repeat this for each part requesting reimbursement for.
To change any of the parts click the Edit link which will allow updates to be applied to the entered part.
Apply any necessary changes, and click the Update link to apply the changes.
To cancel an edit, click the Cancel link .
Remove a purchased part
To remove a part, click the remove link for the entry you want to remove, and click OK when prompted to remove the entry.

New Claim Review
When all the relevant claim information has been entered, review the claim by clicking the “Next >” button. A summary of the entered claim details will be presented so that you can verify that the information is accurate and complete. At this point, the claim can be submitted to Generac® for review by the Warranty Department, or the claim can be stored as a “pending” claim if it is not yet complete.
If any of the information on the claim review page is not accurate, click the “< Previous” button to return the Claim Entry page to correct any of the claim details.
Pending Claim
Pending claims will be saved and available for review, update and/or submission to Generac® for 90 days after which time the pending claim will be removed from the system. If the claim total exceeds $3,000.00, and a control number has not been issued by Generac®, the claim may be saved as a pending claim until a control number can be obtained, after which time the pending claim can then be submitted.
Claim Submission
Once a claim has been submitted, print a copy of the claim summary for your records. You may also provide additional documents to Generac by clicking the link from the new claim summary page, or by reviewing the claim details from the "My Claims" page.
No Charge Parts
No-charge parts provided by Generac® will require a control number issued by the Generac Technical Services Department. No-charge parts will be pre-loaded into the No Charge Parts list when the claim entry page is displayed. These entries will not allow part number or quantity changes. Also, the no-charge part entries cannot be removed.
